Cheshire Medical Center implements new values to guide employees, patient experience

At Cheshire Medical Center, we are committed to providing the highest quality care in the safest possible environment for our patients and staff. To help drive this effort, a group of Cheshire employees — led by President and CEO Joe Perras, MD — worked for three months to develop a set of five values to serve as our employees’ guiding principles.

Taken together, the values are the Cheshire Promise, an initiative formally introduced to Cheshire employees during an organization-wide town hall in March.

“The Cheshire Promise represents the result of intensive work led by a group of Cheshire employees from across our organization to help define shared values that serve as a roadmap for our cultural commitment to each other and our patients,” Perras says. “The values outlined in the Cheshire Promise guide our actions every day and serve as the basis for success in supporting our community inside and out. It’s an exciting time to be at Cheshire, and I’m excited to be on this journey with my colleagues.”

The five values chosen, listed below, will guide our actions every day and be used as the basis for recognition, success, feedback and performance while serving our community.

  • COMMITMENT: We are respectful, collaborative, and accountable to each other, our patients, and our community
  • CARE: We provide the highest quality care in the safest environment for staff and patients
  • COMPASSION: We are proud to provide welcoming and inclusive care to all
  • INNOVATION: We drive growth through adaptability and transparency
  • INTEGRITY: We align our words and actions with responsibility and authenticity
