Community Health Education Classes

At the Center for Population Health, we understand that traveling to attend a training or class held at Cheshire Medical Center can be a challenge for many people in our region. To help, many of our offerings are available on-demand, held at alternate locations throughout the region and offered "on-the-go," where the training comes to you.

Recurring Classes and Programs

  • At-Home Ergonomics: Do you experience pain or stiffness after a long day of work? In this on-demand course, participants will learn the basics of anatomy, proper ergonomics, prevention tips, information about equipment and at-home hacks for creating a more comfortable and ergonomically friendly workstation.
  • Chair Yoga: This gentle yoga class is designed to accommodate individuals of all ages and fitness levels. Participants have the option to sit comfortably in a chair or stand while using a chair for support, making it accessible for those with mobility challenges. Participants will engage in various poses that promote relaxation, reduce stress and enhance overall well-being.
  • Mind Full to Mindful: This eight-week on-demand program provides guided lessons from a trained instructor, mindfulness prompts and exercises, all easily accessed in an online course format. Participants can expect to feel more emotionally and physically resilient, as well as more in control of their thoughts and emotions, after completing this course.
  • Senior Sneakers: Senior Sneakers is a fun and uplifting class that aims to enhance physical and emotional well-being through gentle weight-bearing exercises. No previous experience is needed to join.

"On-The-Go" Trainings

CPH is delivering various training sessions directly to community organizations at convenient times and locations. These are our current offerings for on-the-go trainings:

  • Hands-Only CPR: On-site, hands-only CPR training ensures all employees are prepared for potential emergencies. This training can be scheduled on a "rolling basis" or as a "mini-session" in just 20 minutes.
  • Mock Teen Bedroom: This interactive demonstration provides parents, educators and caregivers with increased awareness of trends in substance use to better understand how to address and process the discovery of substance use.
  • NARCAN Training: This interactive 30-minute training teaches participants how to quickly recognize an opiate/opioid overdose, properly administer NARCAN and offers an in-depth discussion about stigma and the disease of addiction.
  • NaloxBox: If your facility has emergency supplies such as a first-aid kit, fire extinguishers or an electronic defibrillator, consider adding a NaloxBox for opiate/opioid overdose emergencies.
  • Resource Fair: Does your organization or school frequently hold resource fairs for employees or students? We are pleased to offer support with an onsite well-being representative.
  • Stop The Bleed: In this course, participants will learn how to apply pressure to a wound using their hands, pack a wound, and apply a tourniquet correctly.

Each student participating in the program will receive a race-themed reading tracker and tracking stickers to tick off each mile they "run" when they complete a book. "Runners" who complete the marathon will receive certificates of completion and a Read A Marathon Brag Tag.

Our Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training is designed to empower individuals with the skills they need to address potential workplace challenges effectively.
